36 hours

So, what have you done in the last day-and-a-half?

I've spent about 10 hours on this list of misspelled words. I'm up to "desgin*" and plugging away. It's a good project to work on while 'watching' NASCAR and the Olympics.

So far the Big Weener is "correspondance" with 28 hits in the Innovative catalog. It occurs to me that if I were nice I’d check the other three catalogs in the system…but I’m not.

What has occurred to me already is that when we merge next year—it’s officially pushed back to April ‘07 now—I’m betting people will insist on our records being overlaid with the “good records” from the other databases. Huh. So we’ll lose any fixes I’ve made with this list, because I’m sure 85% or more of the typos I’ve finding came in from OCLC without being changed by us.

Anyway. I’m off to run errands now, after a frustrating phone call with one of the other youth group leaders. All of my conversations about youth group with her are frustrating. We just come at things completely differently. ‘nuf said.
