Gloomy gloomy days

Weather: 36 degrees (feels like 26); raining/snowing off and on
Mood: Tired and sick
Listening to: the hum of the PC and my sinuses draining
Where am I? Home

It's a gloomy day and my mood matches it. A perfect day for a mammogram, which is over for another couple of years for me. Piece of cake: it took longer to drive there than to have it done.

I think I'm spending the rest of the day today moping and trying to rest. I got virtually no sleep last night, flipping and flopping as my plugged up head directed me.

Talked to my oldest sister on Saturday who filled me in on Mom's situation, which isn't good. It isn't bad either, but Mom's not exactly doing anything to improve herself which is, of course, frustrating to my sister (and me).

The Beast's mother called over the weekend to report on his dad (he's doing much better, for now), and to tell us that his brother just got fired for taking a sick day in January. Or something. It's complicated, but basically he got screwed.

I'm glad I got a lot of work done Saturday because if I feel this lousy tomorrow, I won't be going to work. And naturally, I'm low on books to read.... Never fails.

The highlight of the weekend was sitting at Ch#rryv@l# Mall yesterday morning for an hour before it opened for business, watching the walkers do laps and the staff restock the jewelry counters. Don't most malls open at 10, even on Sundays? No, this one opens at 11. Anyway, it was fun to people-watch as we debated the possibilities of starting a business. But what kind, that's what is stumping us. After the stores finally opened, we got our wedding rings cleaned--and I left my engagement ring for resizing--and then I picked out my Val present. Still haven't ordered The Beast's.

Sparky arrived home in the afternoon stinky, dirty, chattering a mile a minute and really pumped from his retreat. I'm glad he had fun. He ate his dinner last night (our usual Sunday night meal: pizza delivered by the usual guy) while reading his new "teen" Bible. So I guess it was a worthwhile retreat.

So that sums up the last couple of days. I'm going out to the living room and kicking back in the recliner in hopes that I can catch some zzzz. I really should be grocery shopping, but no, that will not be happening.
