Who says the people you meet online aren't real? That they don't impact your life?
Cuz, yeah, just checkin' my Bloglines a few minutes ago, came across this post:
Don't Forget To WriteHuh? I'm cynical, but this doesn't make any sense, except the bad kind of sense.
On behalf of our whole family I want to thank you all for your amazing outpouring of love and support in this most difficult time. We knew Star had friends. We knew Star had good friends. We didn't know how many. We are reading and re-reading all the posts. It has been an immense source of comfort.
One of the hardest things for me personally has been returning here, to her blog, and seeing her last post. And knowing that it will never be updated.
So I was hoping that every once in a while you will all stop by when the muse strikes you and leave a post about Star. Share a story. Write her a note. Whatever you want. After all, the rest of the world will soon move on, but we have a memory to cherish that gives us a common bond.
If you ever feel like contributing, drop me an email and I'll get it up. I am choosing to look at this as a series of guest posts. You know, until she figures out how to log on from the great beyond. Because if anyone can do it, Sarcasmo can.
Love and peace to all,
Sarcasmom
A little more digging and I came to this at another site where "Sarcasmo" contributed:
Dear Readers:So....
We regret to inform you that Phillyist co-editor Star C. Foster passed away this morning. Star had been complaining of a pain in her foot, which she thought had to do with some bad moves she'd made at dancing class, but it turns out there was a tumor in her leg which matastasized and went to her heart. She had a seizure this morning, her boyfriend Mike called for an ambulance, she had another seizure on the way to the hospital, and then died of a pulmonary embolism.
Phillyist will be going on hiatus for the next few days, out of respect for Star and the massive impact she made on the site. Star was with Phillyist from day one, and we can't convey to you how much we will all miss her.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Star's loved ones. Please send a few of yours her way, too.
Wow
That screeching sound? Brakes being put on all my minor dramatic tendencies. That crap is not important. This is a true bummer, and I really barely 'knew' her.
