Party Season

Our third party of the month, last night, for "youth leaders" at our church. It started out badly--we showed up 45 minutes early. Apparently I totally can't read anymore.

But, uhm...if parents knew what their kids' Sunday School teachers were like in their off hours...holy crap! I think we polished off about 4 gallons of wine last night, and at least a case of beer, though I know for a fact that at least 1/3 of the people weren't drinking anything stronger than Coke or apple cider. My sides and face ache from laughing, and my teeth are sore (who knew I grind my teeth when I laugh?). I hasten to add that I ended my evening at midnight having polished off two cans of diet Coke over the previous 3 hours, having nursed two glasses of wine for the first 2+ hours of the party.

It was a lot of fun.

We have another party tonight, a chili party with about 50 adults and 20 kids crammed into a two-story, c. 1980 house. Less drinking, more eating and talking and yelling over the kids.

Maybe next year we'll have a party at our house. Undoubtedly, I'll read this next year and laugh myself sick at the idea. I'm so tired today I can hardly sit upright.
