Isn't it funny...

...how these words and quotes apply to life? I couldn't find them on the right days if I searched!

Word of the day: obloquy \OB-luh-kwee\, noun:
1. Strongly condemnatory or abusive language or utterance.
2. The condition of disgrace suffered as a result of public blame, abuse, or condemnation; ill repute.
Life has dealt me another quantum shift. Like when you see a picture of someone you’ve talked to or written to for awhile and they look totally different. Only in this case someone I thought was single isn’t. Or maybe isn’t...maybe I’m reading all the signals wrong.

It doesn’t matter in the overall scheme of things. We’re still friends. Just as seeing someone you pictured as short and dark-haired who turns out to be a willowy blond doesn’t change the fact that you're friends.

Except it kinda does, because all your mental stagecraft has been blocked out incorrectly. And it takes a little time to reorganize your blocking. Sort of the mental equivalent of rebuilding the door frames to accommodate Michael Jordan in your hobbit hole.

It will be less strange, eventually. There is that possibility that I am reading all the signals wrong, and/or someone’s messing with my head. Which, by now, you’d think people would realize isn’t even that fun; my head’s so muddled normally that messing with it really doesn’t achieve much.

[Normally I’d just ask, but there are too many other important, scary, awful things going on in that person’s life right now. Quibbling over “why didn’t you mention…?” seems—I don’t know—unfair of me. When things settle down, we’ll talk about quibbles instead of horror.]

Quote(s) of the day:
"Silence is one of the hardest arguments to refute." –Josh Billings
