We're on the second full day of vacation. So far it's been about what we expected (except for having wireless internet access--poached from...someone...no clue who...).
We went to the pool on Tuesday for about 5 hours. The kids swam, played ping-pong and basketball (the building has all sorts of stuff inside when the kids have to leave the pool for Adult Swim). I got a couple dozen more freckles on my legs and the usual Bizarre Sunburn from putting sunscreen everywhere except This Little Strip on my right shoulder. The guys have played golf twice. We went and saw movies yesterday (iffy weather precluded another pool visit). The kids are getting on everyone's nerves. Yesterday afternoon/evening was a big trial in that area. They were all squirelly and annoying.
Today The Cool Chicks are going shopping--all four of us--while the Boys do something all six can agree upon: tobogganing, cave exploration, mini-golf....
The house we're in is perfectly lovely. We have a real kitchen with lots of space to work. We have a very nice hot tub. There is a large-screen TV in the basement, which the kids enjoyed for about a day before breaking it. We can't get the DVDs to show on-screen anymore.
My allergies are wreaking havoc, causing me to pop Benadryl like candy. Oh, well.
Right now, Beast and I are the only adults awake. The kids, naturally, have been awake since 7. They're trying really hard to be quiet downstairs, but...
...oops, here comes Meltdown Boy. He's such a putz. "Sparky's being bossy. He's making us play a game about being quiet." Back downstairs he goes after an attempt at a stare-down with Beast. He was a huge train-wreck yesterday. HUGE.
The grownups played poker the last two nights until late. I won flat-out at Texas Hold 'Em the first night. Last night we played Omaha, and I did all right at that as well, but we stopped at about 1 a.m. because we were all tired. And cranky.
Time to get in the shower and get dressed.
