Two things (plus)

  1. The fireworks last night: very fun. By about 9:40, I was standing in the corner of our backyard almost spinning with delight. I could see the fireworks from The Town in Which I Work (incidentally, completely paid for this year by a local internet provider), the official ones from The Village in Which I Live, and sporadic shots fired from at least four houses within .1 mile of my house. Everything from giant municipal-style bombs to screamers to pop-pop-poppers. It was a wonderful night; the moon was out too, peppered by clouds, and so were the firefliess and bats.

Yes. Bats. Or at least "bat." I frequently think I'm the only woman in the state who appreciates bats; I really like them. The one I saw was making a meal of the fireflies, until Sparky scared him (her?) away by chasing the fireflies around the yard, gleefully acting like an 8-year-old.

  2. I spent four hours at work yesterday, clearing off my extra cart. After three full months, I'm back to my single cataloging cart! Of course, the person next in line to process now has two carts...

And I spent four hours at home yesterday playing "The Urbz." This was part of the $40 spent at Hollywood Video the other day. When we got the GameCube at Christmas, Beast bought "The Sims" for me, but I've never been able to figure out how to play, in terms of making the controller work for me. "The Urbz" seems easier somehow.

Plus I get to hang out with will.i.am and Fergy. What's not to like? The ferrets. I don't like the ferrets. Or the guys who mug you periodically.
I got up at 5:45 this morning to tidy up the house so the woman who comes and 'does' our floors and dusting can get to the floors. Things are a little...erm...chaotic...erm, untidy...erm...yeah...around here. But Sparky got his new shower curtain up yesterday (I bought it 10 days ago), and Beast finished painting the back stairwell (he started trimming it out before we went to MS).

So. Clean up the house, get stuff together for work, and go to work.

Today's blessing:

May you be filled with loving kindness,
and forgiveness be your silent secret gift.
Virtue creates the habit of goodness in action.
Relax and dissolve.

I like the silentsecret-ness of forgiveness, but I'd prefer not to dissolve, thanks very much. I seriously do enough of that already.
