Newest Entry at Doubletongued:
never event
n. a (serious or life-endangering) medical error. So-called because such occurrences should never happen.

Which is somewhat--vaguely--tied to what I was going to write about:

As I told Sparky when I got up today--after he greeted me with "Good noon"--since he is constitutionally unable to sleep past 8, SOMEone in this house has to fulfill the purpose of sleeping till 11 a.m. once in awhile....

I didn't get to sleep till 2ish, and I haven't slept much this week, so when I opened my eyes at 7 and looked at the clock, I rolled over and went right back to sleep. For about 4+ hours.

The kicker, as usual, is that I'm beyond tired today. I just want to grab a towel or a lounge chair and sleep in the sun. Instead, I'm making communion bread (photos to come, when I get the camera working again), cleaning, reading the past week's worth of Dear Abby/cartoons/Miss Manners in the paper, and putting away clean laundry. My laundry-man came home from his week-long trip around Minnesota and North Dakota yesterday. I do love dat man.

I think I'm going to run to the video store this afternoon and see if I can bring home Young Frankenstein (Sparky has seen it, but he doesn't remember it), and... something else fun/ny. Maybe I'll pick up another houseplant, since Sparky just walked by one of the ones in the entry, stopped and announced, "This plant's dying." Yeah, it's at a 45-degree angle instead of standing upright. Another victim of my only-faintly-green thumb.

Two stops. I think I can handle that. I'm not going to the grocery store this weekend. It will be nuts. If I go, it will be at 9 p.m. or later, when everyone normal is home opening their third beer and lighting the fuse on their first M-8O.

Oh wait; hopefully that's only in my neighborhood, not yours.

Happy Canada Day to all.
