Words words words

I've been RSS'd to The Double-Tongued Word Wrester website for months and there are some occasional fun entries. Today's isn't all that thrilling...

lane n. an area of expertise or responsibility; a mandate.
Etymological Note: Almost certainly an extension of the idea of lanes on a highway or running track, reinforced by a lane as a path, meaning "a course of action or conduct."
...but look at the one for Feb. 13:

beer chariot n. safely transporting one’s self home while drunk.

They seem to be somewhat more British, but that's part of the joy.
