Last year for Thanksgiving we had a house full of people. This year seems like it will be a much more laidback in comparison. It will just be my oldest nephew instead of him, his brother, his dad, my nieces and newest nephew-in-law, and his parents. Four to feed, instead of eleven.
Unless y'all want to come. Let me know, cuz I'll need to get more turkey (or a ham). But you're welcome, as long as you don't mind watching football.
Four is sort of a letdown, actually. On top of which, it's almost pointless to clean for MJ (my nephew) since he a) won't notice, b) won't care, and/or c) will feel guilty for making a fuss. Silly boy. (He's 32)
And single, if anyone is interested. And so is his barely-30-year-old brother.
OK. Enough pimping of my family.
In other news, Sparky, Beast and the rest of youth group delivered Christmas greens on Saturday to congregation members. Between them and one big organization that orders from us, we clear about $1000 on this fundraiser. I'm glad it's over.
Now onto planning for Christmas and the rest of the school year. I need to get to a bookstore and get an Advent booklet for the year, by Sunday for the youth group meetings. We'll probably use it at home, too.
I registered us for the Souper Bowl in February this morning, and I'm trying to steer the leaders towards making a decision about our mission project for next summer. This is probably our most likely agency. We'll see.
Two projects accomplished at home over the weekend, in spite of working both days: organized my 2006 datebook, and updated and swapped info into a nice new leather address book for the house (instead of a really hideous 9-year-old pink-and-orange-and-green-covered one). All new and clean and tidy.
So now, I must clean the house. It's mostly my mess that needs organizing (as usual): I have at least 4 pairs of shoes in the living room/kitchen. Otherwise, today is remarkably free. I should probably make a plan for Thursday's meal. And guess what: my desk is getting crappy again. But I'm sensing that I may be able to read a bit, and maybe play some Tetris! I love that game.
