Weekly stuff

For the last couple of months, we've all been keeping logs of what we do all day for the boss. It's not anything formalized--we can make it look however we want. I do mine in Word and email it to her weekly, but others do it differently. She just wants to see our day-to-day grind. It has made me more aware of how much time I spend on certain things.

Here's this week's (edited, of course):

THURSDAY Oct. 13:
(3 hours) Found info for Guys’ Grant (circ stats, cardholders, etc.)
(1½ hours) Met with [boss and two Reference Librarians] re continuations
(1 hour) Ref Staff Meeting
(1 hour) Email / Listserves / Bloglines
(1 hour) Cataloged demand order

SCHEDULED at Circ for one hour.

FRIDAY Oct. 14:
(1 hour) Email / Listserves / Bloglines
(1 hour) Figured out SAM guest log formatting
(1 hour) Caught up on Dewey changes etc.
(1½ hours) Finished cataloging demand order
(45 minutes) Cataloged remaining new materials
(15 minutes) Catalog Maintenance Center stuff (we’re down to two items!)

SCHEDULED at Ref for three hours and Circ for one hour.

TUESDAY Oct. 18:
(1½ hour) Put spine labels on reclassed bios and prepped for shelving
(1½ hours) Demand order cards
(45 minutes) Email / Listserves / Bloglines
(30 minutes) Showed [two techs] how to use [MilCat] to add/change records
(30 minutes) Tried to reconfigure a Works file into a Word file from email with [Techy Librarian's] help. Gave up—not worth the time!
(15 minutes) Miscellaneous questions [from techs about MilCat]
(15 minutes) Reconfigured [MEM's] PC so she can see the whole page on the item summary record in [MilCat]

SCHEDULED at J for one hour.

WEDNESDAY Oct.19:
(3 hours) Caught up on Continuations ordering discussed last Thurs.

Placed new items on order, deleted items we no longer want, wrote up order cards and filed them in continuations drawer; also asked [Supply Queen] to order more 3” x 5” cards, and printed off a current list of what we subscribe to for tomorrow’s meeting
(1½ hour) Email / Listserves / Bloglines
(2 hours) Processed new materials (YAY!)
(1 hour) Fixes:

"Your Hit Parade" so the year shows up in the title browse screen
Tried fixing Fantastic Four to include subtitle but III programming won’t let me
(15 minutes) Helped [MEM] sort out some questions she had [about MilCat]
SCHEDULED at J for one hour


I think, more than anything else, this clearly shows my analretentiveness [sic--on purpose to keep some of the perverts away]. It's also amazing how blogging doesn't really show up anywhere.
