Autumn morning

I've (almost) cleared another box of family memorabilia. This is where it gets tricky, because it is literally all thrown together: birthday cards, calendars, poems, graduation announcments, my mom's high school yearbook, pictures, genealogical information. I started working on this box Saturday while my niece cropped wedding photos. I will finish before picking Sparky up from school at 4. Two things I've realized:
1) I need to get some folders and boxes, both regular manila and some acid-free ones.
2) I need to start entering this into a database or spreadsheet or something. SOON. I'm up to about 500 items. Maybe more, since I'm numbering photos separately from other stuff.
Sparky has updated his blog. I'm cracking up but in a Good-Mom way. I feel like I need to provide translation, but am resisting. If you have questions, though, feel free. I'll see if I can figure it out!

Cinnamon, our youngest 'Pig' is ailing. Beast heard him thrashing around the cage several times Saturday night, apparently having seizures. The bedding is all torn up and thrown around. So today I'm babying him with a warm towel in a box lid--separate from Buddy--and fresh hay and water and extra vitamins. He's not well at all: he's just huddling up kind of twitching and sluggish. What to do? I think I'll break down and call the vet if he doesn't get better because his entire system is involved: he's sneezing, having (ahem) excretory problems, not really eating, shaking, seizing.

'Course, Beast is out of town, so if it comes to it, I'll have to have a backyard funeral with Sparky. I'm not putting Cinnamon in the freezer till Beast returns home!

We have had a new box installed, by the electric company, for the "block." About 4 of the houses are on one of these boxes, and every time our Big Items go on (a/c, furnace, fridge...) the lights dim. It's been happening to each of us, and we finally talked to each other. Luckily, our next-door neighbor works for them, so she knew what to tell them to do. I just hope it has the desired effect. It's a little disconcerting to have a minor brown-out 5 or 6 times a day.

After a cloudy start and a miserable hour or two of rain this morning, the sun has come out and the sky is bright blue. Maybe I'll get some photos this afternoon. It's a beautiful day. Except, I don't think Cinnamon is appreciating it.

So, back to the sick pig and the box of cra...er, memorabilia.
