1. To deprive of vigor, force, or strength; to render feeble; to weaken.
2. To reduce the moral or mental vigor of.
Oddly enough, I heard this misused in an interview last week, don't remember the context, but it was SO WRONG. He meant energized, and it made a horribly--but somewhat humorous--not-very-apt sentence.2. To reduce the moral or mental vigor of.
The Beast is out of town this week, in Kentucky, at a conference for glue-people. Sounds fun, no? Yeah: "No. "
That means Sparky and I are rattling around the house on our own. It's boring. Never realized how exciting my life with the Beast is!
He's cracking up reading this...
I am on the verge of 'hiring' Sparky to do a very menial job at work: photocopying newspaper articles for our local history clippings file. No one on staff is willing to do it, nor do they have time. I figure I can pay him piecework wages--a dime a copy or something--and get it done, plus he'll be earning money for his trip. Oh, yes, the trip. It's only 2 months till he leaves.
I've become completely fixated on LaunchCast Radio here at work. We just went from the overture from Camelot to Alison Moyet to Smashmouth to Buju Banton. OK, there were some real clunkers (a LOT of bad 50s music, for instance), but it's learning what I like. And I like that.
Unfortunately, at home our Net connection is trashed. We have a noisy phone line, but only in the summer (weird, but true). It makes the computer's connection difficult to establish and maintain. Eventually, we'll need to get Verizon out to look at it; in the mean time, we have actually redoubled efforts to find out about a wireless hookup.
Last night I got out the gift I was going to create for my niece: a counted cross-stitch framed wedding announcement, about 13 x 9" finished. Hah--not happening! I haven't ever done this, and it's really complicated, and I have less than 6 weeks! So back to square one on the gift plan... Maybe I'll start it now and by the time Sparky gets married it will be nearly finished. huh Now I sound like my mother.
On that note, I'll head off into the sunset singing along with John Denver to "Take Me Home Country Roads."
