That word is fun to say: shibboleth. Sounds very preschool-ey and nothing at all like what it means! I learned it from William Safire in my teens.
I think... I THINK...my life may be settling down some. And that's a very good feeling. May is usually the hardest month of the school year, so this year I should get a month's break between psychotic winter and nutso-busy spring. That is, unless my mother decides to go mental again.
I finally finished the album on our vacation last summer. The Beast has a couple of assignments in it (why did he take so many pictures of guns, armor etc. in the Tower? And some other similar questions) and I need to find two pictures: one of our house and one of something I can't remember right now. But, for all intents, it's done. Now I can get back to the rest of my life. Good thing we're not taking a trip this summer!
Been listening to the radio again: 2 hours of bagpipe-y stuff, followed by 90 minutes of 'zouk' (African pop, mostly in French), and now I'm listening to a mix of Putomayo songs. We seem to be in Africa somewhere for now, but much more poppy than the previous music: Chico César singing something called "Mama Africa."
The rest of my day will be spent clearing off my cart--she says hopefully--getting my hair cut, etc., putting in some time at the Reference Desk, writing up order cards (even though my Feb order hasn't been sent yet! grrr), figuring out something for supper, grocery shopping.... [Chico is now singing "Papo Cabeça" which sounds like Portuguese soft jazz.] Maybe I'll even get my piles of junk organized at home, for the first time since February. In the back of my mind is a change in my blog layout, too, but I'm trying to prioritize and do what really needs to be done. Although, if I listened to my subconscious lately, it would tell me BlogLand is the real priority. Isn't it good to know that you-all are more important that the piles of junk on my desk, at least to my subconscious??
[A-ha, it is "All Brasil" time: DiDá Banda Feminina doing "Filhos do Tempo."]
Back to work, as I eat sunflower nuts and pistachios. Lunch.
