Thursday End

Weather: 21 degrees (feels like 13); clear sky, it's NOT snowing finally
Mood: feh
Hair: feh
Listening to: the blowers (but I'll come back to that question

At 8 a.m. this morning, when I told Cranky about The Beast's job issues, she comfortingly said, "He needs to get a better job or he could be working at K-Mart next year this time." The only reason I didn't drop a set of encyclopedias on her is that we had just accomplished together a do-good for #8 on The List.

This just solidified my plan for the day: headphones on, "Leave Me Alone!" hat placed firmly on my head backwards so all can see what it says, plow through books, and talk to no one but Sparky (it's a snow day; he's home by himself for the first full day) and The Beast on the phone, perhaps finding a better place to exist in the process.

I think I have done so, by virtue of cataloging over 120 items today. I also sorted out 31 others that need OCLC records dumped into the database, and prechecked a bunch of continuations (21 books, 5 titles). Mind you, over 110 of those items done were either picture books or Spanish language stuff, or both. Yuish.

The playlist for the day:
Dropkick Murphys - Sing Loud, Sing Proud
Cowboy Junkies - Pale Sun Crescent Moon
John Mellencamp - [self-titled] (1998)
Michael Jackson - History (through disc 1)
Elton John - Made in England
I still have a full, three-shelved-two-sided cart to deal with. However, tomorrow I will be doing about 4 hours of public service work, for which I'm not mentally prepared at all.

Yesterday's drama in the reference section was several homeless people who decided to roll around (wrestle?) on the floor in the afternoon after drinking stolen bottles of rum. If they start that up again tomorrow--without sharing the rum with me--they'd better just damn well have their wills written out! God forbid someone asks me if we have any books....
